How was your summer?

I feel like mine dragged on, but then at the same time I blinked and the kids are back in school!

I wish I could say that since the kids are back in school I spend a solid six hours a day blogging (I WISH!) but alas, I still have a baby and a toddler at home.

And let me tell you, trying to coordinate their nap times is not easy!

Most days I feel like I drop the kids off at school and before I know it, it’s time to pick them up again and drive them around to all their different activities. So time management is more important than ever now! Getting up early (blah), squeezing in some writing here and there, pinning while I’m sitting in the car waiting for them to get out of school.

You know how it goes!

Review of Blogging Goals:

I wrote down my blogging goals for September the other day and realize that I WAY overestimate how much I can actually get done in a month.

On the plus side, I am VERY close to launching the new blog!

The design and opt-in is all figured out and looking beautiful, I just need to add A LOT more posts! On the plus side, I can do a full post, including making several Pinterest images in about an hour. So, that’s not too bad. My goal was to get it up and running by September 1st, but that didn’t happen. So if I get it “officially launched” by October 1st, I will be happy. I just want to be sure that I hitch a ride on the seasonal food train!

Create a better funnel for Billionaire Blog Club affiliate

I have been working on this little by little. Here is what I have done so far:

  • Scheduled a bunch of pins directly from Billionaire Blog Club that links to my affiliate link.
  • Included the little blurb below about the course and my review post about the course to all of my income reports.

Things I have yet to do:

Income:

Ads – $45.39

I have switched to strictly using Gourmet Ads now and am no longer using AdSense or Media.net ads.

So if you read last month’s blog income report, I talked about how Gourmet ads pay out when the ads are loaded on the page rather than by someone clicking on them. Therefore, more pageviews = more income ?. It seems to be working pretty good so far! The way it is looking right now I should pass the $100 threshold in less than two months, which is pretty darn good in my book, considering it took like six months or so to get a payout for Media.net ads.

Affiliates – $334.23

Side Income – $75.00

  • Selling articles on Facebook – $75

I so had no motivation to go through anything else in the house and sell stuff, much less have a garage sale.

If you are a blogger and you are looking to have someone write some articles for you, let me know!

Gross Income = $454.62

So gross income went down a little bit from last month, I’m still pretty happy about it. I sit here and look at other blogger’s income reports (and I know we shouldn’t compare ourselves) but I get a little sad sometimes. Things aren’t progressing as fast as I would like them to most days. But on the other hand, l also know that there are bloggers out there that look at my income reports and pageviews and it might feel like a far stretch for them.

Remember, we are all here to support one another. Share fellow bloggers posts. If you are planning on making a purchase, ask your fellow bloggers if they have an affiliate link for that product or service. Just remember that you shouldn’t compare where you are to where someone else is. I know this can be very difficult, especially when you are reading income reports for people that are making $100K PER MONTH!

Take your blogging journey one day at a time and stay positive!

Pageviews:

Pageviews went up by almost 28% from July to August!

This is my second highest month for pageview ever. Which is pretty cool.

Expenses:

This is the third month in a row that my Tailwind payment was a wash because I ended up getting another referral!

  • Hosting – $19.99 (I have a fairly big plan)
  • Canva – $12.95 (I broke down and got the paid version JUST so I can use the fonts I want)
  • Google Drive – $1.99
  • ConvertKit – $29.00
  • Tailwind – $14.99 (which was actually $0 but I count that in my income)

Total expenses = $71.96

Is it possible to blog without spending any money? Sure it is!

Would I suggest it, no. Investing in things that make your life easier is totally worth it!

Total Net income= $460.93

Blogging Goals for September:

Official launch the new website

I have been working on both The Daily Change Jar and Foodie and the Fork for a little while now. I have the design and everything the way I like it for the new site and am mostly working to populate it with content. Which isn’t difficult, just time-consuming. If you want to check it out, click here.

I am also looking for food bloggers to feature their recipes.

Sharing is caring! Make sure you pin this for later!

Top 10 Posts from June:

Here’s a little glimpse as to how much difference ONE blog post can make:

One of my blog posts is driving 83.38% of my traffic, and this is just for August. The 10 frugal meals for when you’re broke has been the highest-ranking post since I published it back in April. It officially has over 2,000 shares on Pinterest and the lifetime pageviews are 61,000! Not too bad for a post I just threw together last minute and haven’t even optimized that well.

I decided to put this post together because I felt like my traffic was a little stagnant and I wanted to give my audience a little more. Well, I guess they liked it! This is when I made the decision to rebrand the site and focus more on women and frugal living rather than being a general personal finance site.

So that just goes to show you, you need to step outside of your comfort zone once and a while when it comes to your blog. Don’t be afraid to try something new!

What big #wins did you have for August?!

  • Are there any good poetry sites that you know of so that I can have an account that has lots of space to type out stories/poems on? Or do you know of any writing sites at all that I could post blogs on, sort of like having a whole website to myself?.

    • Thank you for reading Virgil, if I am understanding it looks like you are looking for a site in which you are able to write posts without having your own hosted site? If that is the case, I would direct you towards Medium and, or Bloglovin’.
